Predator: Killer of Killers is the talk of the town, as the animated movie has successfully woven three separate stories, taking place in three different eras, into one Predator film. In the movie, there are three main characters- a Viking lady called Ursa (voiced by Lindsay LaVanchy), a Ninja in feudal Japan (voiced by Louis Ozawa), and a World War II pilot (voiced by Rick Gonzalez).Â
Since this film was directed by Dan Trachtenberg, who also directed the acclaimed movie, Prey, fans of the Predatorverse hoped to see a connection between them. Well, their wish was granted because Predator: Killer of Killers does have a connection to Prey and then some more. The film also potentially sets up a sequel. So, how does it all happen?Â
The first section of the film is called The Shield, and is set in 841 A.D. It follows a Viking warrior called Ursa on a mission to find the man who forced her to end her own father’s life when she was just a child. In this quest, she has her son, Anders (voiced by Damien Haas), and a group of battle-worn warriors.Â
She does find the man who forced her to commit the horrific act. But it is not a man but a Yautja, aka a Predator. He proceeds to slaughter Ursa’s clan and almost kills her. However, in the end, he loses and gets impaled with an anchor under the cold waters. Yet, that victory comes at a heavy cost- Anders gets mortally wounded and dies.Â
The second section, The Sword, follows Kenji and Kyoshi, twins living in 1600s feudal Japan. Kenji and his brother Kyoshi get into a fight, which the former loses. This gets him exiled, but he returns to lay claim to his ancestral home. However, before that can happen, a predator attacks. The twins team up and take down the Predator, but not before Kyoshi is killed. Kenji survives and is then found on the Predator ship.Â
The third section is called, The Bullet, where we follow Torres, a mechanic who wants to be a pilot. However, things go wrong, and he watches his entire team get killed by a Predator. But Torres does gain the upper hand in the fight and kills the Predator. Then, he wakes up on the Yautja ship.Â
At the end of the first section, the camera changes perspective. The scene fades from old Scandinavia and into a Yautja spaceship where Ursa is trapped. She has some sort of glowing collar on her neck. Along with her, there are Torres and Kenji on the same Yautja ship, and they have the collar too.Â
All three of them were put in cryostasis. Soon, Ursa, Torres, and Kenji are pushed into a gladiatorial arena where they have to fight to the death with a weapon of their clan. This means that Ursa got her shield, Kenji got his sword, and Torres was given Raphael Adolini’s pistol.Â
If they refused to fight, then the collar attached to their necks would blow them up. But what if they win? Then the winner will have to fight the Warlord Predator (voiced by Britton Watkins). The three battle each other but ultimately manage to get their collars off and team up to take down the Warlord Predator.Â
During the scuffle to take control of the ship, Kenji gets trapped. Ursa realizes that she can save Kenji and Torres even though she couldn’t save her son. So, she sacrifices herself and the two boys escape. However, Ursa doesn’t die, and she isn’t killed by the Predators as well.Â
Instead, the Warlord gathers the troops, and they go hunting for Kenji and Torres. So, they are not safe just yet. This could mean that we will get a sequel to this film.Â
Raphael Adolini’s pistol was first seen in Predator 2 (1990) as it was a gift given to Danny Glover’s Lieutenant Mike Harrigan by the Predators. It was then seen in Prey (2022). The Prey movie takes place in the year 1719, and we see Adolini gifting it to Naru.Â
She uses it to kill the Yautja after her. The film ends with Naru becoming a War Chief, and the end credits show three animated Predator ships descending on the village. Many fans assumed that this meant Prey 2 was coming, but now it looks like it was meant to signal something else.Â
Since Naru defeated the Yautja, she was captured by the Predators and put in cryo-stasis like the 3 characters in this film. That’s probably how the Predators got hold of Raphael Adolini’s pistol. Also, since Torres dropped the pistol when he was almost killed by a giant beast, it means that the Predators can give it to Harrigan in Predator 2.Â
At the time of writing, a sequel to Predator: Killer of Killers hasn’t been announced yet. But since the film ends on a cliffhanger of sorts, a sequel could be possible. We might also see the story continue in another film. After all, Naru being on the Yautja ship means that we might get a continuation of her story as well.Â
